Kansas Legislative Hotline

The Legislative Hotline, 800-432-3924, is a free service of the State Library of Kansas Reference Division and is accessible all year. Since 1975, the purpose of the Legislative Hotline is to provide all Kansans with a toll-free resource for up-to-date information about legislative activity.

Your calls are answered by professional librarians with experience in legislative process, and who provide up-to-the-minute information about legislative topics that matter most to you. A team of reference librarians provide unbiased and timely answers to questions about the legislature, such as providing bill numbers and bill status, tax policies, general legislative process, as well as dates and calendar information.

The toll-free number, 800-432-3924, also provides a means for Kansas constituents to contact their elected legislative representatives. Librarians who answer the hotline may take a short message for one or both of the caller's legislators. All messages must include the caller’s name, town in Kansas, and phone number for the legislator to return the call. However, librarians answering the hotline are not able to transfer calls to office staff and other phone numbers.
